Just this morning, Disney announced the dates of the opening of the much anticipated Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. The internet has been abuzz with rumors surrounding this even for months, and now we don’t have to wait any longer.

The talk lately has been about the construction of the new lands, both in California and at Hollywood Studios in Florida, being ahead of schedule.

Looks like it must have been WAY ahead of schedule, because I don’t think anyone thought they’d open as early (at least in Florida) as they are now scheduled to do.

The California version at Disneyland Resort will open on May 31st.

Hollywood Studio’s version in Florida will open on August 29th.

The new lands will be opening in phases. In this first phase opening, only the Millenium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run attraction will be open.

The second phase, later this year (no dates yet) will see the opening of the 2nd new ride, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.

One important planning note: Fastpasses at WDW and Maxpass at DLR will not initially be offered when the first attraction opens. Plan to get to the parks very early to ride!
